We ask: whose land is it?

In partnership with Fear No Music and Las Matices Latin Ensemble, On This Land explores land, belonging, memory, and the stories held in place.

Kenji Bunch’s On This Land, commissioned by Resonance with poetry by Chisao Hata, reflects on Japanese American incarceration in the Pacific Northwest. Alongside it, Shruthi Rajasekar’s Whose Names Are Unknown and Freddy Vilches’s Abya Yala—a multilingual suite created with Indigenous poets from across the Americas—bring other histories and voices into the conversation.

Together, these works ask us to consider what it means to belong to a place, whose stories are remembered, and whose have been left unnamed.
