For the Birds

Agnes Flanagan Chapel | 615 S Palatine Hill Rd, Portland, OR 97219
ABOUT THE CONCERT
We Listen Beyond Ourselves.
In partnership with Bird Alliance of Oregon, For the Birds invites us to reconsider music—and our relationship with the natural world.
Featuring our 2026–27 commissioning composer Judy A. Rose, photography by naturalist Ethan Allred, and Edie Hill’s poignant masterwork Spectral Spirits, a tribute to endangered and extinct birds, the program explores birdsong, migration, and the fragile interconnectedness between humans and the ecosystems we inhabit.
Works by Caroline Shaw and others round out a program that asks us to listen differently: to the sounds around us, to the creatures with whom we share this place, and to what might be lost if we stop paying attention.
