Madeline Ross is an award-winning soprano, jazz vocalist, musical theater performer, educator, and all-around force of nature. A member of the Resonance family, Madeline brings her brilliant coloratura voice, fearless musicianship, and considerable theatrical chops to our stage—and to stages throughout Portland and beyond. She has performed with Portland Opera, Eugene Opera, Renegade Opera, OrpheusPDX, and others, and made her Carnegie Hall debut as a jazz soloist, where she was praised for “scatting to beat the band.”
Madeline is also the Executive Director of Portland’s unconventional Renegade Opera and teaches voice at Reed College. Equally at home with Mozart’s fiendishly high Queen of the Night, Ligeti’s wildly demanding Mysteries of the Macabre, or a jazz standard, she brings serious talent and a healthy appetite for theatrical chaos to everything she does.
Basically: if it’s difficult, dramatic, or slightly unhinged, Madeline is probably going to nail it.
