Ann hails from Colorado where she began her journey as a violinist and classical guitarist in the 4th grade. She received her Bachelor of Performance in Violin and Bachelor of K-12 Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Master’s Degree from Texas A and M in Secondary Education with a minor in Gifted and Talented Education, Administrative Certification from the University of Portland, and has been a National Board-Certified Teacher since 2009.

This year marks Ann’s 35th in public school work, which includes 5 years in Dallas, Texas, and 30 years in the Vancouver Public Schools. Ann has been Vancouver Public Schools K-12 Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum and Coordinator and Dean and Orchestra Teacher. Ann has been recognized as an Outstanding Middle School Teacher by her school district, the state of Washington, and the Vancouver, Washington’s Rotary Club. In 2019 Ann was again recognized by her school district as an Outstanding and Valuable Employee Who Makes a Difference.

Ann is widely recognized as a leading arts advocate, teacher, clinician, and administrator in the region. Along with her school responsibilities, she sits on the education board of the Portland Youth Philharmonic helping to vision solutions to reaching the most underserved who would benefit from a rich music education opportunity. Ann currently performs with the Oregon Ballet Theater, Portland Opera, Vancouver Symphony, McCall Orchestra Festival, and Coos Bay Orchestra Festival, while also an active freelancer in the Portland/Metro area.

Ann is married to Ron Blessinger, who is a violinist with the Oregon Symphony and Executive Director and violinist with 45th Parallel Universe. The joy of continued learning and the challenge of building community through music keeps Ann grounded and committed to arts education.
