Resonance Ensemble is a new, high-level professional vocal ensemble in
Portland that is committed to innovative programming of exceptional
music, exciting performances that will engage and inspire listeners,
and extraordinary vocal sound. We specialize in concerts that explore
the resonance between music of all eras and art, politics, history,
literature and culture, and most importantly, resonance with our
audience.
We create a concert experience like none other. Not only will you hear
a wide variety of excellent music ranging from medieval chant to Bach
to Schnittke to jazz, but you’ll find that concerts are designed with
care to reveal fascinating connections. We want you to have an
experience that is not only musically exciting, as you revel in the
gorgeous singing of the Northwest’s finest professional singers, but
also visually stunning, intellectually challenging, and emotionally
moving. You’ll hear the stunning palette of vocal colors, impeccable
intonation, and sensitive musical expression that are the hallmarks of
our ensemble, but you’ll also learn about the historical or cultural
“resonances” in the music through Artistic Director Katherine
FitzGibbon’s brief remarks and creative programming.
